Infectious disease outbreaks present significant obstacles to the global healthcare system, mainly due to the heightened challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare workers and carers face a higher risk of infection because they interact closely and frequently with vulnerable groups in clinical and community environments. Environments that lack proper infection prevention and control (IPC) practices present increased risks for infectious disease transmission. Caregiver health protection and uninterrupted care delivery depend on effective infection control methods grounded in scientific evidence. This paper examines essential IPC strategies that serve both formal healthcare workers and informal carers while incorporating occupational safety principles, behavioral interventions, and organizational support structures.
AIM : The paper investigates and recommends infection control solutions to minimize exposure risks and transmission among frontline healthcare workers and carers. The focus incorporates hands-on personal hygiene measures, PPE use guidelines, vaccination promotion efforts, safe patient management protocols, workplace environment optimization, and institutional policy frameworks.
